James Banton  -  DPOR Approved Instructor James has been a Journeyman Electrician  since 1984 and received his Masters License in 2004. HE has worked in the commercial and Industrial electrical field from 1980 to 1997 when he began teaching the NEC at the Post - Secondary level at Rowanty Technical Center in Carson Virginia, for Dinwiddie, Prince George, and Sussex Counties.

 

James also worked for Virginia State University in conjunction with Capitol Outlay, over seeing numerous new and remodeling projects for the State.  James is currently working for the City of Williamsburg as Building Inspector I and Fire Protection Inspector.

 

John Caloggero  -  DPOR Approved  Instructor  John M. Caloggero is approved by the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulations (DPOR) as a provider of 3 hours of Continuing Education for Electricians. CEU’s are mandated by the DPOR for license renewal.

 

John joined the NFPA staff in 1980 and was the Principal Electrical Specialist for 23 years at the National Fire Protection Association Engineering Services Division, Quincy, Massachusetts, USA. NFPA  processes the NEC every three years.

 

John served as staff liaison to the following technical committees:  NFPA 70, NEC© Code-Making Panels; NFPA 780, Standard for Installation of Lightning Protection Systems; and NFPA 70B, Electrical Equipment Maintenance.  He was an editor of eight editions of the National Electrical Code Handbook® from 1984 through the 2005 edition and was contributing editor for the 18th and 20th Edition of the NFPA Fire Protection Handbook. John was the primary developer of the NFPA NEC Workshops and NEC Expert Series Videos.

 

Prior to his employment with NFPA, John worked for the Raytheon Co. for fifteen years as a Master Electrician in industry, five years as municipal Electrical Inspector, and ten years as an electrical instructor in a technical school.  He was employed for 3 yrs as an adjunct instructor at Tidewater community college in Chesapeake, VA where he taught the National Electrical Code. John attended Lowell Technological Institute for 3 years in the field of electronic engineering. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Fitchburg State and is certified as a Master Electrical Inspector by the International Association of Electrical Inspectors.

 

Herald Good - DPOR Approved Instructor Herald   has been licensed as a Master Electrician since April 1978. This was issued in the state of New Hampshire by examination. He has held Master's Licenses in the states of New Hampshire, Maine and Virginia. He has held Journeyman licenses in the states of New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Virginia.  Herald has an Associate in Science Degree in Electro-Mechanical Technology and a Bachelors of Science Degree in Fire Administration.

 

Herald currently is employed by the Commonwealth of Virginia, State Fire Marshal’s Office as a Fire Protection Engineer.  Prior to his current employment with the State Fire Marshal’s Office, he was employed by City of Williamsburg VA, Planning Department, Codes Compliance Division as a Combination Inspector. Previously, Herald has spent 35 years in the Fire Service, both Career and Volunteer, of which, the last 10+ of that 35 years, was spent  in the Newport News Fire Department, where he retired in August 2003.  To date, Herald is in his 39th year serving the Fire Service Community.

 

From 1987 to 1990, Herald was an Adjunct Faculty member at the NH Vocational Technical College in Stratham, NH teaching in the Electrical Apprentiship Program.  Herald has been an Adjunct Faculty Member at New Horizons Regional Educational Center since September 2004, teaching in the Electrical Apprentiship Program and the Community Education Program.  Herald has over 1300 hours in the classroom as an Instructor.
